During installation, why is my Anti-virus flagging µTorrent as malware?

Firstly, we encourage all users to download the official version of µTorrent from our Websites. These versions do not contain viruses or malware.  However, it is possible for some anti-virus programs to classify our torrent client as an potentially unwanted program due to 3rd party offers we make in the installation process.  Note that these offers are fully optional and nothing is installed on your system without your consent.  We suggest:

• adding an exception to your antivirus software for µTorrent.
• rejecting any partner offers you don't want installed when µTorrent offers them.
