Captive, the first novel ever to be released through our Artist Spotlight program, has been nominated for a Wall Street Journal award! Will you give us a hand and vote for her?
Author Megan Lisa Jones, fresh from the novel’s successful launch into the BitTorrent community, has been honored with a nomination for the Wall Street Journal Small Business, Big Innovation award. This is huge (congrats Megan!)
The Wall Street Journal nominated a select group of people for their Small Business, Big Innovation award who, after the recession of 2007, did something “creative, imaginative or cutting-edge with their business models, which allowed them to survive and thrive.”
Everyone here at BitTorrent is rooting for Megan. She deserves not only to be nominated but also to win this prestigious honor. Want to help? Please VOTE today.
Megan is a true pioneer. With a clear understanding that the publishing model is changing in the digital age and knowing what an enthusiastic community you are, Megan released her novel directly on BitTorrent under the Creative Commons license. Her goal? Proving that adapting to new models for content distribution is a recipe for success.
Captive has now been downloaded over 550,000 times and continues to draw readers and fans from all over the world (leading to a sequel coming in 2012…stay tuned. And in the meantime, if you loved the book, you can buy it in hardcover on Amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com).
We love to support artists who believe in BitTorrent. Take a look at Captive in the Find Content panel in your client and vote for Megan to win here.
Thanks for the help!
